I am 37 weeks & 4 days pregnant with identical twin boys, plus we have an almost 3-year-old son - and we're not done yet! People make assumptions all the time - but they are diametrically opposed. Either we're going back for a girl (which we're not - I actually think I'm a better mum to boys and wouldn't mind having a tribe of them...or is that a football team?) or that we're finished.

We are amongst the lucky ones for whom IVF is a success - in fact, too successful! We only had one embryo put back this time and voila! twins!! Apparently they had a two for the price of one deal back in September...

We have three embryos frozen and it is our intention to use all of them. Keeping in mind that there is an attrition rate on thawing etc, we're hoping at least one of the embryos works...although some unkind people are suggesting that it's a case of singleton first, twins second so we must be due for triplets next!!!

I was surprised how often I have been receiving the "oh, so you got it done in 'one shot'" comments from people when they learn I am pregnant with B/G twins. Why would someone assume you stop after 2? My mom had triplets and then another child 6 years later although we girls do refer to him as the "prodigal son". I do secretly agree it is efficient to have more than one at once. I'm sure I may feel differently as we start to raise our tykes but for now I would always leave the possiblity open for more kids. It was funny to notice that at my last MOT meeting plenty of moms had 1 older child but none had kids after their twins were born.

My answer was always "Done, No Way, Are you kidding me?" Husband would agree 100%....but now after 4 1/2 years.... I don't know... My answer now is..'I think we're done...but if it happens it happens."
Especially that my mom is coming up to live w/us...I'm definitely pondering the idea of another one.
Who knows...we'll just have to wait and see.
Ummm...my husband's answer is still "NO WAY"

Having two sets of twins is...well, it can be a challenge. But it's a lot of fun, really. It's so special, and it's so neat to see all these little monkeys playing together. I encourage all twin parents to have more kids if it's what they want - don't be afraid you'll have twins again. Because, you might! And then, well - you deal with it!

I've actually had more than one grandmotherly type come up to me and say:

"oh, two girls? well, next time it'll be two boys."

What is it about me that warrants that kind of evil? :)
